Patient Education Video Script Builder

Paste the page patients already read: a treatment, service, condition or leaflet page. We find the patient questions on it, the contact route, the names to keep exact and the words a patient may not know. Pick a question, add the steps and your reviewer, and get a beat-by-beat script with what the viewer hears, what they see and what needs checking.

We read the public page once and do not store it. No page yet? or .

How it builds the script

Every line has a source and a reviewer.

The template behind it ↗
  • Answers the question first. The opening beat states the viewer's question and answers it, before any logo or introduction.
  • Three columns per beat. What the viewer hears, what they see and what needs checking, so a reviewer can approve each line.
  • Keeps the limits in the reviewer's words. Missing limits, contact routes and reviewers are flagged, and the tool never writes clinical advice for you.
  • Treat the output as a draft. Test the rough cut with intended viewers using the comprehension question, then revise before polishing.

Who should approve a healthcare video ↗

Is there a healthcare video script template for patient education?

Yes. This builder uses the template from FDM's patient education script guide: one named viewer and viewing moment, the viewer's question, a direct answer, the steps (each with what the viewer hears, what they see and what needs checking), the limits and when to get help, and one next action. It also writes a comprehension question for test viewers and lists the exact terms captions must keep.

How long should a patient education video be?

Long enough to answer one question clearly. A 60 to 90 second video usually fits one question with a few steps. Let the steps set the length, and split the video if it starts answering a second question. The tool estimates time at 130 words per minute plus a two-second hold after each step; read the script aloud against the visuals to check it.

What should a medical video script include?

One named viewer, their question answered in the opening lines, each step as a line the viewer hears and a visual they see, every instruction or number traced to an approved source and a named reviewer, the limits in the reviewer's wording, one real next action, the exact terms for captions and translations, and a comprehension question for test viewers.

What does the tool check?

It flags common clinical or formal words with a plainer alternative, sentences over 20 words, steps that hold more than one action, absolute claims such as cure or no side effects, numbers or doses that need an approved source, missing limits, a missing contact route and a missing reviewer. It is a production aid, not medical advice or a reading-level score.

Is there an example I can start from?

Press "Try the sample" to load the fictional, non-clinical example from the guide: finding appointment details in a patient portal. It shows the structure, not any real hospital's portal. Replace every label and contact route with your organisation's approved information.

What happens to my page and what I type?

When you paste a link, FDM's server reads that public page once to find its questions, contact route and terms, and sends them back to your browser. It is not stored. The script is built in your browser, and what you type is not sent anywhere. Do not enter patient details; the script should not need any.

Can FDM turn the script into a finished video?

Yes. FDM produces patient and health education videos as explanatory animation and expert-led edits, including the health education work for Mega We Care, and works to your named clinical reviewer's approvals.
