Website Video Audit

Enter your website. We check your home page and key pages for video: where it is missing, what is stopping search engines from understanding the video you have, and which video would help each page most, with a script tool to start it.

Takes about ten seconds. We read the public pages once and do not store them. Pages behind a login are not checked.

How it works

One address in, a page-by-page video plan out.

Video content strategy ↗
  • Finds your key pages. It follows the links on your home page to features, pricing, customers, about and help pages.
  • Checks the video you have. Player, structured data, transcript, file size, poster, captions and autoplay.
  • Suggests the video you do not have. One idea per page, matched to what that page has to do, with a link to draft it.
  • Gives you a list to share. Copy the whole audit as text for your team.

What does the website video audit check?

It reads your home page and up to six key pages it links to, such as features, pricing, customers and about. For each page it reports whether there is a video and which player it uses, whether the page has VideoObject structured data and a transcript, and for self-hosted video the file size, poster image, caption track and autoplay settings. Pages without video get the one video that would help that page most.

Which pages on a website should have a video?

Pages where a visitor has to understand something before acting: the home page (what the product is and who it is for), feature pages (one workflow shown on real screens), pricing (what happens after sign-up), customer pages (a customer's own story), help pages (one task per clip) and, for healthcare, the pages patients read before a visit. Not every page needs one.

Why does a video need structured data?

VideoObject structured data tells search engines the video's title, description, thumbnail, upload date and length. Without it, a video embedded in a page may not be shown as a video result. A transcript on the page also helps search engines and AI assistants understand what the video says. The Video Schema Generator writes the markup from your page.

Is a large video file a problem?

Often, yes. A self-hosted file of tens of megabytes slows the page, especially on phones. The audit flags files over 25 MB. Compress the file, serve a shorter loop on the page, or host the full video on a video platform and embed it.

Does the audit store my website?

No. FDM's server reads the public pages once, sends the results to your browser and keeps nothing. Pages behind a login are not checked, and video that loads only through scripts or after a cookie banner may not be seen.

Can FDM make the videos the audit suggests?

Yes. FDM makes explainers, product demos and UI walkthroughs, customer and podcast edits and patient education videos for companies including Krista.ai, TikaMobile and Mega We Care.
